On November 30, we had the opportunity to visit the Lloyd’s headquarters in London. An invitation expressly addressed to the FMBA, which we received from Mr. José Núñez, CEO of the company in Spain. All members of our Federation were invited to this interesting event.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, we held a meeting which took place in the room where the board of directors meets. During the meeting we discussed issues of interest within our organization and current projects for its development. The postponement of the 2023 FMBA General Assembly, scheduled for this week in Beirut, was approved due to the instability in the region. Furthermore, the status of negotiations with brokers associations in Croatia and Slovenia regarding possible integration into the Federation has been updated. In addition, we proposed to José Núñez a collaboration between the two institutions, Lloyd’s and FMBA, within the framework of a joint international training program.
The FMBA delegation was led by our president Sebastián Cordero, and the participation of Talal Ounsi, vice-president of LIBS (Lebanon); Francisco Alcaide, Antonio Rodríguez and Javier Rodríguez, from the ACSA association (Spain); and Eduardo Fernández-Agüera, general coordinator of the FMBA.
After the meeting, it was José Núñez himself who accompanied us on a tour of the building, during which we learned how the company is organized and its 350 years of history, linked to the appearance of the insurance as we know it today.
