Presentation of 2023 results and 2024 outlook for SCAR OI

SCAR OI, the Insurance Brokers’ Union of Reunion and the Indian Ocean, experienced a year full of events and achievements in 2023. This presentation summarizes the main strengths of the past year and provides a vision for the outlook in 2024.

2023 Highlights

  • Participation in the FNACAM general assembly in Casablanca: a high-level meeting with representatives from several dozen countries, which allowed for networking and updates on international insurance market trends.
  • Invitation to Dominique Sizes, Vice President of BIPAR and the World Federation of Insurance Intermediaries, to the upcoming SCAR OI conference to share his experience on managing uninsurability risks.
  • Meeting with Farid Bensaïd, President of FNACAM, to discuss relations between brokers and insurance companies and the prospects for the sector’s evolution.
  • Launch of an international MBA or equivalent project in collaboration with FNACAM, aimed at enhancing the skills of brokers in the region.
  • Implementation of a CQP (Professional Qualification Certificate) training owned by France Assureurs, with a successful first session for 15 candidates.
  • Efforts to attract young talent to the insurance advisory profession, highlighting valued aspects such as a sense of work, social utility, and personal fulfillment.
  • Acknowledgment of Joe Chane Sing for his dedication as treasurer of SCAR OI and the search for a successor.

2024 Outlook

  • Support for Planète CSCA DROM in organizing the brokerage conference scheduled for September 26.
  • Organization of the CQP laureates’ night to valorize the insurance advisory profession.
  • Continuation of efforts to improve the attractiveness of the brokerage profession among young people.
  • Search for a new treasurer for SCAR OI.

The year 2023 was a year of consolidation and development for SCAR OI. The union carried out many significant projects and established the groundwork for future growth. In 2024, SCAR OI will continue to assert itself as a key player in defending the interests of brokers in Reunion and the Indian Ocean.

It’s worth highlighting the importance of collaboration between SCAR OI and its partners, such as FNACAM, Planète CSCA DROM, and France Assureurs. This collaboration is essential for the success of the union’s actions and for promoting the insurance brokerage profession.
